Amazon WorkMail is a secure, managed business email and calendaring service from Amazon Web Services (AWS). At Amazon Web Services we strive to provide highly scalable web services so our customers can focus on their value and innovate faster. The range of services offered with AWS is continuously expanding, and covers on-demand storage, compute and network capacity, as well as a growing list of application services. At WorkMail, we further leverage these services to provide a robust and intuitive email platform to our customers, always trying to come up with ways to improve the business email and calendar experience.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be joining a team of engineers within Amazon WorkMail dedicated to our mailbox storage services. In addition to optimizing the current experience and cost, you with your team will also help to improve our in-house database layer, and make it easier for other teams to use it.

On daily basis you will be coding in C++ and Python, and you will use many of Amazon Web Services' products.

Your responsibilities:
  • You will work on the server side of Amazon WorkMail.
  • You will design and develop solutions that will help our customers and shape the product and the industry.
  • You will be working together with other developers, system engineers and testers. Together with them, you will build high performance, reliable systems that will massively scale.
  • You will help establish performance and technical standards for the systems we build.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated coding skills in C++, Java, or similar language
  • Good knowledge of computer science fundamentals and algorithms
  • Solid industry experience with best coding practices including design, unit testing, and peer code-reviews
  • Fluent in written and verbal English
  • Curious and motivated to grow your technical abilities, as well as coach others
  • Able to work in a diverse team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience coding in C++
  • Experience in building and operating highly-available (24x7) systems
