Amazon Spain and Italy is looking for an exceptionally motivated and talented Technical Advisor / Senior Project Manager with a strong customer focus. This role is based in either Madrid or Italy.

Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Country Manager (CM) be most effective and efficient by:
. be a fungible project leader that can proxy for the CM on key business drivers and reviews
· ensuring CM’s time is focused on the highest value activities and business issues
· pre-reading and summarizing major write-ups from teams (retail and non-retail)
· maintaining an ongoing and prioritized to-do list
· prepare meetings by reviewing importance of topics and prioritizing tasks in/out of meeting agendas
· coordinating follow-ups requests from International Leadership Team, and help discover root causes and fixes for issues
· providing an independent perspective, and acting as a sounding-board for ideas
· offering feedback on internal issues
· helping with creation of content for periodical update emails to IT and ES employees and all-hands
· attending specific meetings on CM’s behalf and ensuring conclusions or action items are communicated.
· Drive business by being on top of major opportunities and issues in business and addressing these pro-actively with responsible Retail Leaders

2. Assist CM’s Directs to become a more effective senior leadership team by:
· Ensuring the effectiveness of key leadership meetings by managing agenda and by ensuring the most important topics are being framed and considered properly
· regularly polling the team in advance for their hot-points and creating the appropriate agenda
· providing templates for common format documents with adequate time to complete
· reviewing materials in advance to ensure proper focus and level of details
· supporting teams needing help thinking through problems (both business and communications)
· acting as a sounding board for the Country leadership teams on topics to be discussed with the CM
· helping shape the Retail strategy, and communicating to the leadership group in both countries

3. Act as the IT&ES Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) by:
· acting as liaison between Seattle technical teams, technical advisor, international and local teams
· specifically focusing on adoption and automation of pricing, ordering and vendor central
· advocating increased auditing of all tools and processes
· ensuring auditing of retail tools and processes
· working with the international teams to identify the improvements needed to our systems and process

4. Support senior leadership decisions and processes by:
· Coordinating with SME’s for Pricing, Selection and Vendor Management and to ensure sharing of best practices
· ensuring strong follow-up management on action items and questions (in coordination with IT&ES Retail Finance)
· monitoring progress of STeam goals
· identifying gaps between International and local retail strategies and best practices, and sharing with all locales
· identifying recurring defects and ways to measure and improve associated processes
· providing feedback on the individual WW product line summit agendas and topics, and communicating findings to other product lines

5. Discover and investigate external technology and business trends by:
· exploring trends, companies, etc. that present strategic opportunity or risk
· researching local expansion opportunities
· investigating ad-hoc ideas
· assisting in assessing acquisition opportunities in IT&ES

6. Learn and prepare for your next role
· participating in IT&ES Retail Leadership team and other senior forums
· interacting with senior category leaders
· participating in and observing OP1, QBR and other meetings on an ad-hoc basis
· establishing a mentor relationship with the Country Manager and other VPs and Directors
· identifying and preparing for next position within Amazon

Basic Qualifications

  • Significant experience gained in an analytically focused role, for example consulting, financial/business analysis, or investment banking
  • Experience in BI intelligence tools, management reporting is a must
  • Structured communicator, levering priorities across senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation
  • Results oriented, effectively prioritizing and multitasking, able to work with tight deadlines
  • Experience in identifying root causes of problems and necessary actions to eliminate them
  • Great attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail background is a plus
  • Experience in launching new businesses / focusing on process improvement is a plus
