Position Summary
Amazon entered China in 2004. Striving to be the earth’s most customer-centric company, Amazon China keeps innovating for China customers to better meet their demands. Now it has set four strategic business focuses, including cross-border e-commerce led by Amazon Global Store and Amazon Global Selling, Amazon reading which includes books, Kindle devices and e-books, plus Amazon Logistics+, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Amazon China’s vision for e-commerce is that customers in China can purchase any product they want from the world through Amazon China; any business in China can export to worldwide through Amazon, and build their brands globally. We set big goals and are constantly looking for people who can help us reach and exceed them. As such, we’re looking for a Principal Software Engineering Leader to help build, lead, and scale our ecommerce platform.
As a Leader, you will
· Lead several teams of software engineers in the Retail Systems, development, unit testing, and implementation of products. This is a new and innovative product set that is primed for rapid growth in a very competitive landscape. You will need to establish teams that can deliver fast and predictably, adjusting in an agile fashion to deliver what our customers need and when they need it.
· Be responsible for ensuring sanity of product/service offering, operational excellence and quality, delivering results on time and working with other software teams in coming up with what software changes need to be implemented in which system, in order for the feature to launch. You will be responsible for clarifying use cases, requirements and milestones.
· Be responsible for hiring, mentoring and managing a highly skilled set of Software Development Engineers and Managers. Managing them to deliver and growing their careers.
· Ensure that the software developed is technically sound by having the ability to deep dive into the details of the services and algorithms that your teams own and develop.


A successful candidate will have a proven experience in software development in a customer-facing environment, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a self-motivator to deliver results in a fast paced environment. This individual also ned to be a strong and inspirational leader who can raise the bar on hiring, developing and retaining the best talent to continue to build our world class technical team.

Preferred Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field is a must.
MS, Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics etc. is preferred.
Experience
· Proven software product development and delivery experience in large scaled distributed system, cloud computing, machine learning, mobile, or e-commence platform
· Successful experience designing and developing complex, interactive customer experiences
· Technically credible to lead a team of world class software engineers and development managers and be able to deliver the right product with a scalable engineering design
· The ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is critical
· A passion for people management and mentorship; hiring and developing great people
· Able to balance technical leadership with sound business judgment
· Has passion and convictions and the innate ability to inspire passion in others
· Thinks strategically, but stays on top of tactical execution
· Capable of thinking creatively, deal with ambiguity, and manage changing priorities
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Demonstrated a bias for action, and experience making things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
· Experience with analytics and large data sets is preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
